For contractors

A short bench, and a standard worth clearing.

I introduce homeowners to a small number of trades I would use on my own house. No lead fees, no bidding wars, no pay-per-lead. In exchange, the standard is higher than most platforms ask for — and it is enforced.

Be clear about this first

You will not appear on a public list.

There is no directory page with your name on it, and there will not be. Introductions are made privately, per project, by me. If public advertising is what you are looking for, this is the wrong thing—and I would rather say so now than have you fill in a long form.

What the bench offers

  • Homeowners who know what they wantEvery introduction arrives having read what the work involves, what drives the price, and what a proper quote contains. You are not educating them from zero.
  • No lead fee. Ever. You pay nothing to be on the bench and nothing per introduction. I take no referral fee from you either — the recommendation only means something if it is not bought.
  • Two names, not eightYou are not bidding against a field. At most one other contractor sees the same job, which means you can quote the work properly rather than quote to win.
  • Introduced by nameNot a directory listing. A REALTOR® who has walked your finished work telling a client why they should call you.

What it asks

  • Written, fixed-scope quotesNot a verbal number. The scope, the exclusions, the allowances and the schedule, in writing.
  • A reply within two business daysEven if the reply is 'not right now'. A straight no is fine; silence is not.
  • Your own permitsPulled in your name, not the homeowner's.
  • Current paperworkWSIB clearance and a certificate of insurance from your broker, updated when they renew — without me having to chase them.
  • Honesty about capacityTell me when you are too busy. I would far rather place the job elsewhere than have a client waiting on a callback that is not coming.

Before you start the form

It is long on purpose.

Every question below is a check I would run anyway. Completing it saves us both a round of emails — and a contractor unwilling to answer it has told me something useful.

Application

Tell me about the business.

I read every application myself. If the trade is one I am currently short of, you will hear back quickly. If it is one where the bench is full, I will tell you that rather than leave you waiting.

  • No fee to apply and no fee to be listed
  • Nothing published publicly — introductions are private
  • A straight answer either way

Apply to join the bench

Submitting an application does not create any agreement, guarantee any referrals, or place you on the bench. Verification of insurance, WSIB and licensing is required before any introduction is made.

The standard, in full

Every check, published.

The vetting standard is public so homeowners know what an introduction means and contractors know exactly what is being asked. Nothing in it is a surprise, and none of it is negotiable.
